The Municipal Council Member, Architect Mehmet Vahip’s name has been given to a street in Hamitköy by the Nicosia Turkish Municipality. ( NTM )

The name of the road, which is known as “Hamitköy Road”, has been changed as “Architect Mehmet Vahip street”  today with a ceremony. ( 24TH March 2010)

The Mayor of  the Nicosia Turkish Municipality Cemal BULUTOĞLULARI, The Deputy Mayor of  the Nicosia Turkish Municipality Celal CİN, some of the Municipal Council members, the family of Mehmet Vahip and his friends attended the ceremony.

Bulutoğluları: “ Vahip will always live with his works that he has earned to our society”

The Mayor of  the Nicosia Turkish Municipality Cemal BULUTOĞLULARI, who made the first speech at the ceremony, said that Mehmet Vahip is one of the rare architects that our country trained up.

Denoting that besides his success in the business life he always stood in the forefront with his social life too, Bulutoğluları indicated that during Vahip’s Municipal Council Membership period, he always gave support to him and behave by keeping balances.

Connoting that Architect’s Mehmet Vahip’s name has been also given to the Meeting Room of NTM, Bulutoğluları said that Vahip will always live with his works that he has earned to our society.

Simavi Vahip: “Mehmet Vahip was one of the most important names that our country trained up”

At his speech, the brother of Mehmet Vahip, Simavi Vahip specified that Mehmet Vahip gave importance to the values that the country trained up are known and heeded by the future generations.

Denoting that Mehmet Vahip was a versatile man and he has serious contender sayings against the negative structring in the big cities, Simavi Vahip was one of the most important names that our country trained up.

At the end of his speech Simavi Vahip thanked the Mayor of  the Nicosia Turkish Municipality Cemal BULUTOĞLULARI and the members of the Municipal Council.

 Who is Mehmet Vahip?

Mehmet Vahip, who is originally from Köfünye, was born in Nicosia on 1960. After graduating from Mağusa Namık Kemal High School, he finished 9 Eylül University- Department of Architecture on 1982.  He was a member of KOGEF when he was in İzmir. After becoming a member of Turkish Cypriiot Architectures Chamber, he executed the chairmanship of this Chamber.

At the same time, Mehmet Vahip also executed the chairmanship of the Youth Center and took place at the administrative boards of many non-governmental organizations.

He has been elected to the Nicosia Turkish Municipality as Municipal Council Member from CTP.

Mehmet Vahip who started his proffesion life with construction project production, has a lot of structure.

From 1996, he was one of the founder of the company which gives service of designing and constructing and he gave contribution to the structural environment through this company.

Mehmet Vahip recently was a faculty member and guest assistor at architecture departments of various universities.
