Bulutoğluları: “We will bring the capital city
Nicosia to European standards with a
cultural-art work”
The Mayor of Nicosia Turkish Municipality (NTM),
Cemal Bulutoğluları examined the Capital City
Theatre Building ongoing construction with the
theatre artists. The Mayor Bulutoğluları
examined the works on site and stated that the
construction is continuing with top speed and
that it will be completed in 2011. Bulutoğluları
denoted that most of the framework of the
building is completed and during the summer the
rough construction work will be completed after
which they will move to the interior decoration
of the building. Bulutoğluları highligted that
they give importance to culture and arts and
that they are working to leave a permanent work
to Nicosia with European standards, endowned
with latest technology, and a modern cultural
art work.
Ersoy: “This building will be our national pride
in culture and arts.”
NTM Culture-Art Coordiantor Yaşar Ersoy stated
that in developed countries the culture-art
structures have a role in the cities’ prestige
and he believes that when the theatre building
is completed it will be Nicosia’s prestige
building in the arts and culture department.
Ersoy added that the Capital City Theatre
Building will bring very important values to
both country and capital city and this theatre
building will be our national pride in culture
and arts. “We are very excited as artists. The
artists feel most the absence of a place only
for cultural and arts. We tried every way for
this purpose. In 1999 the foundations were laid
behind the Fairgrounds area. Unfortunately in
2005 the government removed the contributions
for the building from the budget and they erased
the name of the building from the investments.
After that we met with the Mayor to determine
the need for a theater/concert building one more
time and laid the foundation. We are so happy to
see the process of the building develop. The
foundation was laid with the unanimous vote of
the Municipal Council. Nicosia Turkish
Municipality is living its 30th art year. Our
biggest ideal is to be able to perform for our
theater audience in this new building. I would
like to thank our Mayor and all the other people
who made an effort for this issue on behalf of
all the artists and all the art lovers,”
explained Yaşar Ersoy.
Bulutoğluları: “ In 2011, Nicosians will be able
to watch concerts and theatre plays in this
modern building”
Stating that he made on-site inspections at the
building site with the artists, Bulutoğluları
connoted that the construction of the building
is continuing and he stated that the building
will be ready in 2011 just like they promised to
the public. Highlighting that they will create a
successful work in European standarts,
Bulutoğluları emphasized that Yaşar Ersoy has an
important role along each step of the
construction and creation of the building.
“When Yaşar Ersoy presented me this
concert-theatre building idea that belongs to
the Municipality and suits our city, I
immediately accepted.
We laid the foundations of this building on the
same day with the City Hall. We will complete
this permanent work just like I opened the City
Hall to service. We have to thank the Turkish
Ambassador Mr. Şakir Fakılı who made a
contribution of 2 billion Turkish Liras to the
budget of 2010. He has a significant
contribution to this permanent work from which
all Turkish Cypriots will benefit’’ stated the
Mayor. |
