Cemal Bulutoğluları, theMayor of the  Nicosia Turkish Municipality replied the explanations made by the Evkaf Authority, and stated that none of the claims made to the public are true.

Bulutoğluları denoted that the water was cut-off just for 1 hour, but this was a  temporary situation for the mosque which had enough water in its tanks for three days. 

The Evkaf Authority claimed that the corpses couldn’t be washed and worshipping couldn’t be done because of this water cut-off, but Bulutogluları said that this  kind of  claims are not based on facts. He added that all burial services are taking place at the Nicosia Turkih Municipality Cemetery and that the citiziens who would worship didn’t have any problems related with water.

“Appointed people can’t ask for justification from elected people”

Indicating that it hasn’t been seen anywhere that appointed people ask for justification from elected people, the Mayor Bulutoğluları, stated that the Evkaf Authority, which talks about political disputes, made statements like a political actor and that the Evkaf Authority should be doing their work instead. Connoting that the cracks on the walls of Selimiye Mosque are serious, Bulutoğluları, denoted that the Evkaf Authority should take action about this issue and that he is wondering what the Evkaf Authority General Management is actually doing.

“You can’t interrogate my respect to citizens”

Specifying that he is very upset because he has been exposed to accusations of victimizing the citizens, Mayor Bulutoğluları stated: “ We are providing all the facilities to our citizens to fulfill their religous duties and the statements of the Evkaf Authority are just ridiculous.

The unreal and bogus claims of the Evkaf Authority that doesn’t do anything to take care of the Selimiye Mosque will be judged by the public.’’
