Çağlayan fair which had an important role in Turkish Cypriot people’s social life for years revived within the 50th anniversary festival of the Nicosia Turkish Municipality.

The fair will be open until 24th of August, Sunday, between 18:00 – 24:00

6. International Nicosia Folk Dance Festival took place at Nicosia Ankara Çağlayan Park with the high participation of Nicosians. The shows of dancers came from 8 countries allured the citizens who came to see the festival. The festival will continue in various regions of Nicosia until Saturday. 

Bulutoğluları: “Our aim is to revive the Çağlayan tradition which has a great place in everyone’s mind. We will do the things that noone did before with the 50th anniversary festival. Nicosia will be satisfied with culture- arts, sports and entertainment for 2 months.”

Çağlayan fair which had an important role in Turkish Cypriot people’s social life for years is set again on its old place within the 50th anniversary festival of the NTM. Nicosians paid great attention to Çağlayan Fair which caused them to feel the good old days again with lottery stands, cotton-candy, lokma-şamişi, corn, felafel, contending cars. The Mayor of the NTM, Cemal Bulutoğluları and the Leader of the Democratic Party, Serdar Denktaş visited the festival the festival which will be open between 18:00 – 24:00 on the first night and walked around the stands. 

6th International Nicosia Folk Dance Festival which took place within the 50th anniversary festival of the NTM and which is organized with the cooperation of Hasder and the Youth Center continues with full speed. The exciting shows of dancers from Turkey, Croatia, Italia, Serbia, Slovakia, Sierra Leone, Bulgaria and Folk-der, Hasder, Youth Center and Fogem from TRNC allured the citizens who came to see the festival.

The Mayor of the NTM, Cemal Bulutoğluları made a statement before the shows and said that they revived Çağlayan Fair for perpetuating the Çağlayan tradition and that they will connect yesterday to today and today to tomorrow carrying this tradition on. Bulutoğluları said “I went back to my childhood years wile walking around the festival. My wish was to perpetuate this tradition again. Most Nicosians know this and we wanted to show to the ones who do not know. We will both entertain and celebrate the 50th anniversary of the NTM with sports, cultural activities, competitions, concerts and 5oth anniversary programs which will last for more than 2 months.
