The mukhtars which are in the boundaries of Nicosia had  a meeting  with the Mayor of Nicosia Turkish Municipality Cemal Bulutoğluları, and  with authorities from Municipality. They exchanged their ideas about general problems and about the latest issues at stake. The Mayor of  Nicosia Turkish Municipality, Cemal Bulutoğluları, some of the  members of the Council and the Deputy Manager Aşkan Cemal Efe participated in the meeting which took place at the Townhall  Meeting Room. They talked especially  about the future of the mukhtars and about the co-operation between the mukhtars and the NTM.

Stating that it will be beneficial to be in contact with the Mukhtars to clarify the local governance reform, the Mayor of the Nicosia Turkish Municipality, Cemal Bulutoğluları, denoted that it will be necessary to put the mukhtars on salary as part of these reforms.

In his speech, Bulutoğluları emphasized that the mukhtars, who work day and night, should be supported in some spesific issues and he added that the meeting will be beneficial for removing the problems of the mukhtars

Stating that they created a mukhtar building, park and cafeteria and that their aim is to create a working area for mukhtars by creating such instutions in all areas, Bulutoğluları said that they will make necessary investments according to the feedback that they will get from mukhtars.

   19 mukhtars who attended the meeting connoted that they are pleased with the interest of the NTM under the Mayorship of Cemal Bulutoğluları and stated that they are very happy by the existence of such a Mayor that gives much importance to them.

   Mukhtars said that they wanted to work under the roof of the NTM, due to the fact that the government did not take them seriously and that the municipality received them with open arms.
