Aiming to renew the whole roads of Nicosia, the Nicosia Turkish Municipality is continuing its works since 2006. Through the agreement that is signed between the NTM and Tüfekçi LTD  on  04th of May,  2009, 10.000 tons asphalt will be paved in Nicosia. 

The Mayor of the NTM Cemal Bulutoğluları stated that the tender was opened 1 month ago and Tüfekçi LTD  obtained the contract which gave offer approximately 300.000 TL less than the others. Bulutoğluları thanked the manager of the Yetkili LTD. Hüseyin Tüfekçi and stated that since he came to duty as Mayor in 2006, most parts of Nicosia have been asphalted. 

Bulutoğluları connoted that due to the rain and drainage problem, the roads are damaged and holes appeared on the roads. Bulutoğluları also said that through the weather conditions, asphalting works will pick up speed again. 

Bulutoğluları : I will do everything to be able to keep my promises.

Emphasizing that  the opposition mayors have big problems becasue of the economical crisis and they can’t implement their projects Bulutoğluları added, “I  have given promises to my citiziens  before I assumed duty. I will do everything that it takes to be able to keep my promises. If the authority of the Dikmen Garbage is  given to the NTM, I will keep all my promises related with garbage. Besides this, other projects like municipal houses, slaughterhouse, pedestrianization and the theather bulding will also be implemented. New parks will be opened in Ortaköy and Kermiya. The municipal market will be restored. Water pipes, covering the 60% of Nicosia, will be changed. The tender will be opened for drainage and sewerage lines of Hamitköy. Service for the public is our aim and I will do everything for it.”

 “If the authority of the garbage will be transferred to us, the system will be ready whithin 6 months..”

 In response to a question by the press, Mayor Bulutoğluları made a statement about the Dikmen Garbage Dump and said that  the municipality quit works there because the authority was not given to the municipality completely and that it is given to the Ministry of Environment. Bulutoğluları stated that, if the authority will be given to the municipality completely, they will be able to establish a modern system for the related area. Bulutoğluları demanded from the new governmet to rent the Dikmen Garbage to the NTM for 25 years.
